Robert Joseph Maxwell III

Husband, father, guitarist, and legend.

Memorial Date and Information To Be Determined.

Forever, in Loving Memory

Robert Joseph Maxwell III, known best as Robby, 35, of Sanford, Michigan, moved from our earthly world on September 16, 2021, while surrounded by family and friends. Robert decided to end an exhausting and admirable fight against Choriocarcinoma through hospice care which reclaimed power over his life and death choice. Hospice provided Robby the opportunity to spend his remaining days with loved ones. All involved were unprepared for how quickly the hospice process ended but are grateful his passing was on his terms with tools of comfort and the people he loved most.

Robert was born on March 13, 1986, to Robert Joseph Maxwell II (Penny) and Jo Lynn Zegelien (Darin) in Midland hospital. Robby's greatest passion was playing guitar with his friends and wife, and he played guitar in several bands over the past two decades. Robby also taught lessons to some of his friends, wife, and children. Robert's spirit has inspired many, including hundreds of musicians who streamed Robby playing guitar in the hospital throughout his cancer treatment.

On April 16, 2020, Robby married his longtime childhood friend, Natasha Dianne Navarro, by Sanford Lake, where they grew up. Soon following, Robby and Natasha welcomed daughter Kaelyn Rhiannon Phoenix Maxwell on July 24, 2020. Robert is also survived by children Alex Thompson of Sanford, Michigan, Alister Maxwell of Weirton, West Virginia, Amelia Camp of Midland, Michigan, and step-children Emma Galvin and Elissa Galvin of Sanford, Michigan. Robby often boasted that his most significant life blessing was his children, and he gifted each of them a guitar before his passing.

Other loved ones carrying on Robby's memory include sister Jordanne Newcomb (Bryon) with their children Iva Jo, Carter, and Hazen; sister Stephanie Maxwell with daughter Mina Maxwell; brother Aaron Maxwell (Olivia) with their beloved shepherd Stormy, many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Predeceasing Robby is his grandfather Robert Joseph Maxwell, grandmother Evalyn Elaine Maxwell, grandfather Charles Zegelien, uncle Charles "Chuck" Zegelien Jr., and aunt Jeanne Ann Smith.

The memorial will be private due to COVID and his wife's immunocompromised state. Robby and Natasha have advocated for the disabled community since the onset of the pandemic. Robby's last request of Natasha was to ensure she protected her health throughout the remainder of the pandemic. The theme of selfless love and advocacy for one another was evident throughout Robby and Natasha's marriage.

To donate in Robby's honor, those wishing to pay respects should refer to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for cancer treatment expenses.
